The Society Journal “Shakkei”

Provided free to all members each quarter, our high quality journal Shakkei (borrowed scenery) contains many illustrated articles on a wide range of subjects related to Japanese gardens. Contributions are written by and for members of the Society.
There are regular articles on garden construction, including member’s own gardens, garden history, and horticulture including ‘Plant of the season’.
Many members find the journal alone is worth the membership fee without the added bonus of on-line lectures, garden visits and workshops.

We have over a hundred issues in our archives containing over a thousand articles. These are a treasure trove of information and many can be accessed by members on request.

JGS members can purchase earlier issues of Shakkei that we have in stock.
