We have arranged a visit to Morton Hall Gardens, Morton Hall Lane, Redditch B96 6SJ on 18th May 2022. The visit will commence at 2.00pm and includes a guided tour about the history, design, and planting of the gardens as well as specific horticultural techniques, followed by afternoon tea*.

Morton Hall rests on the crest of a steep embankment and looks out west over the Vale of Evesham to Welsh mountain ranges on the horizon. This grand view is framed by the Malvern and Clee Hills to the left and right. There are 8 acres of gardens and parkland including the West Garden with bold Mediterranean style planting and stunning views. They continue through the orchard and the walled Kitchen Garden with its ‘expressionist’ herbaceous borders. A gateway leads on to the ‘impressionistic’ South Garden, brimming with roses, clematis, and herbaceous planting in soft pastels. Past a magnificent chestnut tree, the path continues down through a woodland rock garden planted in cool hues. At the far end, a laurel dome opens out onto a Japanese style garden with two ponds and a tea house. The planting in this area combines Asian and European shrubs and perennials. The journey continues through a magnificent meadow. The circle is completed passing through the ‘New Garden’ with its selection of species roses and flowering trees.

Tickets are £15 per person. Please book by contacting Adrienne when your email invite arrives. This event is only open to JGS members
