July visit to the Japanese Garden at the Newt
NOW FULLY BOOKED
South West Region Event
Back by popular demand
We are delighted to invite you to visit the gardens at The Newt in Somerset, including their fantastic Japanese Garden. The Newt is a country estate with magnificent woodlands and gardens located in Castle Cary, Somerset. South West Japanese Garden Society members had an excellent visit in 2023, and we are returning by popular demand.
The visit will be led by Maiko Ishida, the designer and gardener responsible for looking after the Japanese Garden completed in November 2021 (see Shakkei Winter 2022-23 Issue). Maiko is also a Trustee of the Japanese Garden Society. The tour will include a lunch break at the Garden Cafe. Please see the itinerary below.
The invitation is open to South West Japanese Garden members only in the first instance and is limited to 20 members maximum.
Please note that as the gardens at The Newt are on a sloping site, and there are some steps in the Japanese Garden, this visit might not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
